ATJAR, KROEPOEK, PISANG PLACEMATS

Voor dagelijks gebruik zijn de placemats heel geschikt - of om als cadeau te geven. De ontwerpen zijn delen uit het grote tafelkleed die opnieuw geordend zijn. Één set bestaat uit vier verschillende ontwerpen. Geleverd in een stevige brievenbusdoos, met of zonder het Atjar boekje. Hieronder een aantal namen en uitdrukkingen die op de placemats staan, en de bijbehorende vertaling.

P-01 BOEAH-BOEAH
Op de eerste placemat staat een lijstje van namen van tropische vruchten. Hier zijn de eerste drie:
blimbing (belimbing) - carambola of stervrucht - (Averrhoa carambola)
djamboe (jambu air) – pommerak: heeft een zeer milde en lichtzoete smaak die lijkt op appels, en een knapperige waterige textuur; de plant komt oorspronkelijk uit Zuid-India tot Oost-Maleisië - (Syzygium aqueum)
djeroek – sinaasappel of citroen (verzamelnaam voor citrusvruchten)

P-02 GOJANG LIDAH
Op de tweede placemat staan drie Indonesische uitdrukkingen. ‘Goyang lidah’ betekent slingeren met de tong. De uitdrukking ‘Ada gula ada semut’- semut betekent mier en gula betekent suiker - waar plezier is, daar komen mensen samen; campur aduk betekent: achteloos door elkaar gooien - maar in dit geval bedoeld als een speelse uitdrukking, niet alleen in de keuken.

P-03 BOEMBOE-BOEMBOE
Op deze placemat staat het lijstje met ‘boemboe’s’ oftewel specerijen, de aanleiding van eeuwenoude handel en kolonisatie. Dit lijstje heeft een prominente plaats op het tafelkleed.
De eerste drie namen uit het lijstje :
asem (asam jawa) - tamarinde: de vrucht wordt veel gebruikt in de Indonesische keuken, zoals in sayur asam; tamarindebomen worden vaak aangeplant langs de kant van de weg om schaduw te geven; ze zijn vooral bekend langs Jalan Raya Pos (Jalan raya Daendels) van Anyer naar Panarukan - (Tamarindus indica)
djahé (jahe) - gember: de wortelstok wordt gebruikt om er gember van te maken; wordt culinair veel gebruikt en kent vele medicinale toepassingen - (Zingiber officinale)
djinten (jintan) – komijn, karwij of kummel - (Carum carvi)

B-01 Atjar Tafelkleed Boekje

Het Atjar, kroepoek, pisang boekje bevat de woordenlijst met de 213 namen en beknopte wetenswaardigheden in de hedendaagse Indonesische spelling, betekenissen in het Nederlands en Engels; kan extra bijbesteld worden bij de placemats of tafelkleed bestelling.

The placemats are ideal for everyday use or as a present. The designs are sections of the large tablecloth that have been rearranged. One set consists of four different designs. Delivered in a sturdy box, with or without the Atjar booklet. Below are a few names and expressions that appear on the placemats, along with their translations.

P-01 BOEAH-BOEAH
On the first placemat is a list of names of tropical fruits. Here are the first three:
blimbing (belimbing) - carambola or star fruit - (Averrhoa carambola)
djamboe (jambu air) – pommerak: - known as watery rose apple, water apple or bell fruit; has a very mild and slightly sweet taste similar to apples, and a crisp watery texture; it is native from southern India to eastern Malaysia - (Syzygium aqueum)
djeroek (jeruk) - orange or lemon (collective name for citrus fruit)

P-02 GOJANG LIDAH
The second placemat presents three Indonesian expressions. ‘Goyang lidah"‘ means rolling the tongue; ada gula ada semut- ‘semut’ means ant and ‘gula’ means sugar - this expression implies where there is fun, people are gathering; campur aduk means: to mix and throw together carelessly - but in this case intended as a playful utterance.

P-03 BOEMBOE-BOEMBOE
This placemat features the list of 'boemboes' or spices, the reason for centuries of trade and colonisation. This list has a prominent place on the tablecloth.
The first three names from the list:
asem (asam jawa) - tamarind: the fruit is widely used in Indonesian cuisine, such as in sayur asem; tamarind trees are often planted along the roadside to provide shade; they are especially well known along Jalan Raya Pos (Jalan raya Daendels) from Anyer to Panarukan - (Tamarindus indica)
djahé (jahe) - ginger: the rhizome is used to make ginger, which has many culinary and medicinal uses - (Zingiber officinale)
djinten (jintan) – cumin, caraway, also known as meridian fennel and Persian cumin - (Carum carvi)
